check out the cafeteria and found lots of yummy looking food :). My
appt went great! Doc says my cervix is closed and she isn't worried
about me being in pre-term labor anymore. She even said I can go for
little walks again as long as my bp doesn't go up too much! But now
I guess I should actually eat my food instead of looking at it :)

I had to go in before my Dr. Appt. yesterday to have a Non-Stress Test done. I'm pretty used to them by now since they always do them when I end up in L&D. The babies heartrates were both good. Peyton was being a little stinker and kept squirming away from the monitor so it took a longer but she finally decided to cooperate. Since my blood pressure was a little high last week and I had some protein in my urine from the 24 hour collection, they were worried that I might have Pre-Eclampsia. But at my appt. the doctor told me she doesn't really think I have it, I am just borderline from my test results so she wants to monitor me closely just in case. I had to take a blood pressure machine home with me and test it twice a day plus I have to test my pee for protein. Fun stuff!! The good news is my bp has been totally normal the past few days so I think I just get stressed out when I'm at the dr.'s office!!

What a busy day!! My mom and sister hosted a shower for mostly family and some friends at my mom's house at noon. Her famous enchiladas were served as well as a yummy fruit basket cake :) Thanks so much to everyone who could attend!! It was great seeing all of you!! I think we decided there were at least 40 guests there so it was definitely a full house!
Then at 7 pm, my friends Alyssa & Sarah threw another shower for me. Boys were invited to that one :) It was great socializing with friends one last time before the twins arrive!! We played Guitar Hero & Cranium. JD & I didn't get back to my parent's house until after 1 am! It was a long day but but a lot of fun!
Thanks again!! We love and appreciate you all!! Here are a few pictures:

I had an appt. this morning with the dr. I was seeing in Rancho Cordova before I moved. The good news is that she scheduled a c-section date for me at the Kaiser in Rosville. So if they haven't arrived yet...Peyton & Lucas will be coming into this world around 6 am on March 4th! Of course if I go into labor before then I will be delivering by our house at the Kaiser in Santa Clara. The bad news is that my blood pressure was elevated so she sent me to be monitored at the Labor & Delivery dept. in Roseville. JD & I headed over there around noon and I hung out in a triage bed on monitors all afternoon. They ran some labs and did a quick ultrasound to check on the babies. Everything looked ok and my blood pressure went down a bit so they said I could go home. The only catch is that I have to collect my pee everytime I go to the bathroom for 24 hours!! NOT FUN! Luckily the 24 hours ends at noon tomorrow so I will be done before my baby shower begins. Then JD gets to drop off the jug of pee at the lab. lol

JD & I drove to my parents' house last night so we could go to a "Multiples" Class & a tour of the new Labor & Delivery wing at the Kaiser in Roseville this morning. My preggo brain made us 1/2 late to the class because I had the time messed up but we were still there for most of it and it was pretty informative. We learned that every twin pregnancy is delivered in an operating room instead of a regular labor & delivery room due to possible complications. We were able to check out the L&D triage rooms, Labor, Delivery & Recovery rooms, Mother/Baby rooms and the NICU. They wouldn't let us look at an operating room though. Everything is brand new and looks very nice!

I was having some contractions on Monday and decided to get checked out. I wasn't too concerned because I have had them before but it had been a few weeks since my last dr. appt. so I decided to go to L&D just in case, I didn't even call JD because I didn't want him to worry. When I got to the hospital they hooked me up to some monitors to track my contractions and both babies heartrates. Everything looked good but they decided to check my cervix & do a preterm labor test just in case. Turns out I was starting to dilate and the preterm labor test came back positive. I started to freak out a bit and figured it was time to call JD and let him know what was going on. They started giving me medicine to stop the contractions and hooked me up to an IV with some fluids. The doctor said they wanted to transfer me to another hospital because the one I was at didn't have a NICU that could handle my babies if they were born so prematurely. I was assuming that JD would come get me and drive me to the other hospital but then I was informed that an ambulance was on the way to pick me up!
When I got to the new hospital the dr. checked my cervix again and said it was only 1.5 cm dilated which meant it wasn't progressing so that was good. She said that they would need to monitor me for at least a few days to see what was going on. She explained that at over 29 weeks the babies would have a very good chance of survival but they would have to spend some time in the NICU. She then did a quick ultrasound and estimated the babies to weigh 2 lbs. 12 oz. each. The perinatologist was going to meet with me the next day and they were also going to schedule a formal ultrasound to get more accurate measurements to check the babies growth & my cervix length.
Tuesday morning the perinatologist came in and said that he didn't think I was actually in active labor. He said they still wanted to keep me at the hospital and monitor me for a while and then schedule a formal ultrasound for Wednesday morning. They also moved me from the L&D wing to the Mommy/Baby wing. It was great because the bed was MUCH more comfy in my new room but it was a little strange because my babies were still inside me and I was now in the maternity recovery ward.
Wednesday morning I went in for an ultrasound. The tech said the babies were measuring at 3 lbs. 3 oz. each which was really good for twins at their gestational age. She also said my cervix was still 4.5 cm long even after applying pressure to simulate standing. So it seemed everything was good and I went back to my room to wait for the doctor to come and tell me if I get to go home. It was a couple hours before the perinatologist came into my room but when he finally did he said that the babies looked great and I could go home :) He said he didn't really believe in bedrest because it hasn't proven to really prevent preterm labor. He just said I needed to take it easy and spend as much time off my feet as possible. I asked him if I could still travel to Sacramento to go to my baby showers next weekend and he said that would be fine as long as nothing changed between now and then.
So now I'm back at home trying to relax. JD brought me breakfast in bed this morning along with my laptop and a dvd to watch. I think I can get used to this :)
